Integrated-thematic Approach

We embrace an integrated-thematic approach in teaching and learning to support your child’s holistic development. Integrated learning experiences help children understand how knowledge and skills are linked. Lessons are planned based on a theme or topic of investigation.


Learning Domains

Our activities cover six learning areas for holistic development.


Language & Literacy

Children learn to:

  • Listen for information and enjoyment
  • Speak to convey meaning and communicate with others
  • Read with understanding and for enjoyment
  • Use drawing, mark making, symbols and writing with invented and conventional spelling to communicate ideas and information
Numeracy

Children learn to:

  • Recognise and use simple relationships and patterns
  • Use numbers in daily experiences
  • Recognise and use basic shapes and simple spatial concepts in daily experiences
Motor Skills Development

Children learn to:

  • Enjoy through participation in a variety of physical activities
  • Demonstrate control, coordination and balance in gross motor tasks
  • Demonstrate control, coordination in fine motor tasks
  • Develop healthy habits and safety awareness at home, in school and at public places
Social & Emotional Development

Children learn to:

  • Develop an awareness and personal identity
  • Manage their own emotions and behaviours
